Ever wondered how to use Microtones to spice up your Jazz Harmonies? Wir auch! Wir sind Rami und Freddi von „Hear Between The Lines“ (https://www.youtube.com/c/HearBetweenTheLines) und freuen uns auf ein neues Semester mit dem Microtonal Ensemble. Populäre Jazzmusiker*innen wie Jacob Collier, Larry Goldings oder Jake Sherman haben in einigen ihrer Werke „Mikrotöne“ eingebaut, doch das ist nur die Spitze des Eisbergs: Mikrotonale Musik bietet uns nicht nur buntere, neue Jazzharmonien, sondern auch einen Zugang zu außereuropäischen Musikkulturen, deren ""Vokabular"" wir lernen wollen, um unseren musikalischen Horizont zu erweitern.
Ziel ist es, das gängige 12-tönige System zu verlassen um neue Klänge, Modulationen und Obertöne in unser Spiel einzubinden. Am Ende des Semesters werden wir auf der Ensemble Night eine der wenigen Gruppen weltweit sein, die mikroharmonischen Jazz auf einer Bühne live performen! Neugierig? We are Rami and Freddi from "Hear Between The Lines" (https://www.youtube.com/c/HearBetweenTheLines) and we are looking forward to a new semester with the Microtonal Ensemble. Popular jazz musicians* such as Jacob Collier, Larry Goldings and Jake Sherman have incorporated "microtones" into some of their works, but that's just the tip of the iceberg: microtonal music offers us not only more colorful, new jazz harmonies, but also access to non-European musical cultures whose ""vocabulary"" we want to learn in order to expand our musical horizons.
The goal is to leave the common 12-tone system to incorporate new sounds, modulations and harmonics into our playing. At the end of the semester, we will be one of the few groups in the world performing micro-harmonic jazz live on a stage at Ensemble Night! Curious?
